Who we are
Compliance assistance built for the office, not the courtroom.
Point Of Care Consults began in 1989 with a straightforward observation: federal safety and privacy regulation is written for regulators, and the people who have to comply with it are clinicians with a full schedule of patients. Somebody had to translate.
Since then we have provided a complete line of services, policy manuals and accredited training programmes to over 2,000 physician, dental and podiatry practices across New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Florida, with manuals sold nationally. Every programme is customised to the regulatory requirements of the specialty it serves, because a dental operatory and a hematology laboratory do not face the same hazards and should not receive the same binder.
We also work directly with hospital health systems acquiring private practices, reconciling an independent practice’s existing programme against the acquiring institution’s enterprise policy set so the site is auditable from day one.
We make regulatory compliance simple. That is the whole proposition. Our consultants answer questions directly, our documents are written to be read by the people who use them, and our training sessions are delivered in person by someone who can answer the question your medical assistant actually has.

Federal regulation is written for regulators. The people who have to comply with it are clinicians with a full schedule of patients.
What we believe
Four things that shape how we work.
- 01
We work in medical offices, not in theory
Our consultants spend their weeks inside operatories, treatment rooms and physician office laboratories. When we write a procedure, we have watched the procedure being performed. That is why our manuals survive contact with a real inspection.
- 02
Compliance should cost less than non-compliance
Practices save hundreds to thousands of dollars in staff time that would otherwise go into parsing federal rules, and frequently more again when we review a biomedical waste contract that has quietly renewed for years above market rate.
- 03
We work at both ends of the market
A solo podiatrist and a hospital system acquiring twelve practices need the same standards met at very different scales. We have done both, and the acquisition work has made us fluent in enterprise policy as well as federal rule.
- 04
Our growth comes from word of mouth
We do not employ high-pressure sales representatives. Practices call us because a colleague told them to, which means our reputation is our only real marketing budget and we protect it accordingly.
How we engage
No sales representatives. Just the consultant who does the work.
The person who answers your first call is the person who audits your office, writes your manual and stands in front of your staff at the annual training session. There is no handover to a junior after the engagement is signed, because there is no sales team to sign it.
That is also why almost all of our work arrives by referral. Practices tell colleagues, and hospital systems bring us with them when they acquire.

Do not wait until an inspector shows up at your office to find out you are not in compliance. You get what you pay for — rely on the best.
Talk to a consultant about your practice.
Tell us your specialty and where you are today. We will tell you honestly what you need and what you do not.
